William Harding School, Buckinghamshire
3D Aluminium have completed a pilot window replacement to a four sided corner bay at William Harding School for Buckinghamshire Council.
During the survey stage of the initial design and specification process between Buckinghamshire Council and 3D Aluminium it was determined that the existing timber window frames were suspended by the head from structural steels integrated within the roof. A structural engineer was employed to calculate and design a steel structure to support the proposed new bay window from below. The new steels were constructed using box steel gallows brackets supporting a header beam with all sections polyester powder coated to match the finish on the new Technal Dualframe Si aluminium window sections. The new design also involved replacing the full depth internal cill board and the structure beneath, which allowed for new insulation to be installed, dramatically improving the thermal performance of the whole structure, plus cloaking the steel head section internally.
The stunning transformation includes the introduction of solar control glass to create a more comfortable learning environment internally.
